I went to college with a guy from Uganda. He had never seen snow before and half way through one of our lectures during January it started to snow outside our lecture room windows. His reaction was full of excitement and wonder, seeing this amazing feature of British weather that he had heard so much about. It stopped the whole lecture whilst we all stopped to admire the snow. I think the first snow falls still do that to all of us – make us stop and just wonder at the world. After the snow has been around for a while we take it for granted, which is sad, but that first snowfall can still bring us all to a standstill. Perhaps we should let more things in our life make us just stop and appreciate them, just like new snow. Happy New Year.
