About me

I am the Principal of  Dover Court International School in Singapore and a UK National Leader of Education. I like to think of myself as working as an enthusiastic innovator in pedagogy for children and young adults. In addition to having led 5 very successful schools across the UK, I have wide experience in teacher professional development and coaching and also initial teacher training, working for the last 12 years variously with the Universities of Manchester, Birmingham, Plymouth and Warwick.

In addition to my school leadership role I have worked as a member of the DfE’s ETAG group, a Director and Trustee of the SSAT and ICT Register representing over 5,000 schools in the UK, a member of BECTa’s Leading Leader Network, a member of  the Cambridge Primary Review steering committee and an educational consultant for a very successful UK Academy sponsor of Secondary and Primary schools. I also chaired the SSAT National Headteachers’ Task Force, was part of the Vision2040 group and am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

I have spoken widely at conferences internationally, from Michigan State University, the UK Parliament’s Westminster Education forum, the International Network for Educational Transformation (iNET), to the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference for Independent Schools (HMC) in the UK.  I have worked on various projects for the DfE, DCSF, SSAT and National College of School Leadership such as Developing Future Leaders, Aspirant Headteachers, Strategic Leadership of ICT training and the Building Schools of the Future Programme, in addition to the Universal Access programme for the DCSF and leadership publications for BECTa.

I enjoy focusing upon personalised, independent and negotiated learning, and am an ardent believer in empowering learning through the intelligent use of technology.
